Secularists in Turkey in the aftermath of July 15: Debates, Sentiments and Expectations

Written by Sabiha Senyücel Gündoğar and Aybars Görgülü, the report titled “Secularists in Turkey in the aftermath of July 15: Debates, Sentiments and Expectations” delves into the perceptions of Turkey’s secular community following the July 15th coup attempt.

In the context of the report, in-depth interviews were conducted involving the media, civil society organizations, academics and the business world in January and February 2017. A workshop was also held, including representatives from groups in the laicist/secular demographic in Istanbul.

The report aims to reflect a general view of the secular community during and after the July 15th coup attempt and present their expectations to the public opinion.
